Visiting Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park is a National Park in Arizona that encompasses 278 miles (447 km) of the Colorado River and adjacent uplands. This mile-deep canyon offers views from both north and south rims and is considered one of the most spectacular examples of erosion in the world. The park is located on the ancestral homelands of 11 present-day Tribal Communities. Visitors can find a variety of experiences, including hiking, scenic driving, wildlife watching, boating and paddling, fishing, camping, and biking.

Grand Canyon National Park by Season

Grand Canyon has elevations from 2,500 feet to 8,400 feet on the North Rim, so weather can vary significantly by season and location within the park. High temperatures inside the canyon tend to be 20 to 30 degrees warmer than on the rims. Winter: Winters tend to be cold and snowy. The South Entrance Station may be closed by snow. Foot traction and hiking poles are advised for the South Kaibab Trail when surfaces are icy. Seasonal average high 59°F / low 37°F. Spring: Seasonal average high 82°F / low 53°F. Summer: Summers have periods of excessive heat. Seasonal average high 102°F / low 72°F. Fall: Seasonal average high 81°F / low 55°F.
