CCC Living History Days

Park Event · Prince William Forest Park · Oct 17, 2026 · 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

Prince William Forest Park was created as Chopawamsic Recreation Demonstration Area by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1936; groups of cabins in a forest oasis where children and young families from nearby cities could find 'relief' from the Great Depression.

Living History

Join park rangers and volunteers at Prince William Forest Park as we celebrate the creation of the park by taking a deeper look at the history of the Civilian Conservation Corps and see what a day in the life of a CCC enrollee would look like! Watch living history reenactors demonstrate skills used to build and upkeep the cabin camps and see exhibits of CCC era tools and uniforms.

Feel free to drop in at any time on Saturday, October 17 or Sunday, October 18 from 9:00am to 5:00pm to learn more about the CCC!
