Learn about Nelly Madison Hite, the younger sister of James Madison. In 1783 Nelly married Isaac Hite, Jr., the historical owner of Belle Grove Plantation.

Hear about Nelly's life in the Shenandoah Valley and her role in managing the people enslaved at the plantation. Belle Grove is a National Trust for Historic Preservation site and a key partner of the National Park Service.
