Park Event · Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area · Sep 12, 2026 · 11:45 AM–12:15 PM

What happens when Appalachian music and storytelling meet? Come find out at Blue Heron! Join us at Blue Heron Visitor Center in Kentucky on Saturday, September 12, as we welcome Jordan Hughett for two special performances at 11:45 AM and 3:15 PM ET.
About Jordan Hughett
Despite all the rumors, Jordan Hughett was not born with a banjo in his hand--but he has been asking for one since he was three years old! Since then, he has spent years absorbing and collecting the music, history, and folklore of the Big South Fork region. Today, he shares those songs and stories with anyone who will listen.
A musician, storyteller, historian, and writer, Jordan brings the rich traditions of the Big South Fork to life through music and personal stories. He and his wife and young daughter live just a few miles from where their ancestors settled after coming through the Cumberland Gap. When he's not performing, Jordan enjoys time with family, his church, and teaching in the Scott County School District.
This special event is made possible by a grant from the National Park Foundation.
