2026 Fall BioBlitz- Assateague Island National Seashore

Celebrate National Park Week with us and find out who's visiting Assateague Island this time of year! Participate in our week-long 2026 iNaturalist BioBlitz, running August 22nd through August 30th, by observing and identifying as many species within the park as possible. Enjoy one of our trails, walk the beach, or explore the marsh; there's thousands of species to observe.

While you're visiting Assateague Island, snap a photo of any living creature or evidence of one, and log your observation using the iNaturalist app. A limited number of special event ranger-guided programs will also be offered to enhance our observation numbers. No sign-up required, just get out there and ID! All species identified within the park during this event will be added to our 2026 BioBlitz project on iNaturalist found here: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/2026-bioblitz-assateague-island-national-seashore

As cell service is limited on the island, it is recommended to download the iNaturalist app and create an account prior to arriving to the park.
