Potato Dance Game

The Potato Dance, also known as "Lâche pas la patate" is a community tradition often found at festival and music events in Acadiana.

"Lâche pas la patate" meaning "Don't let go of the potato" or "Don't drop the potato" needs partnered dance couples and a potato for each pair. Each pair holds a potato held between their foreheads as they dance to Cajun and Zydeco tunes. This competition goes to the last man standing!

Join in the fun and hang out afterwards to enjoy live music at Rendezvous in the Prairie. This program is free and open to all ages, potatoes provided!
