Prescribed Fire Planned at Gran Quivira Unit to Reduce Wildfire Risk

The Park is preparing to conduct a prescribed fire at the Gran Quivira Unit to remove slash piles and reduce the potential for the future spread of fire. The prescribed fire will reduce fuels on approx. 100 acres of NPS lands and is tentatively scheduled to occur between October 19 and October 21, 2026.
