Sequoia Basics (Giant Forest Area)

Visitors from around the world come to marvel at the most massive trees on Earth. This short program explores giant sequoias—their size, traits, and challenges—while highlighting the General Sherman Tree.
Program Details

- Location: General Sherman Tree
- Seating: No seating provided; this is a standing program.
Getting There
Parking: General parking at the Main Sherman Tree Parking Area off Wolverton Road. The lot is 0.5 miles (0.8 km) from the tree; access is via the Sherman Tree Trail.
Shuttles: The free Giant Forest Shuttle operates in summer and serves Sherman Tree Accessible Trailhead and Sherman Tree Main Parking Area. All shuttle buses and routes are wheelchair accessible.
Accessibility
To take a wheelchair accessible path, park at or shuttle to the Sherman Tree Accessible Parking Area. From there, a paved, slightly sloped accessible path leads from the to the tree (0.2 miles / 0.3 km). Benches available along the route. The main Sherman Tree Parking Lot, along Wolverton Road, has a trail that is steep in sections and not designated as fully accessible.
