Come join park rangers and members of the Flagstaff Dark Skies Coalition for a night of stargazing and telescope viewing at the Lava Flow Trail amphitheater.

Event Schedule

  • 7:30pm - 8:00pm - How can you help protect dark skies where you live? (ranger presentation)
  • 8:00pm - 10:00pm - Independent Telescope Viewing (FDSC Volunteers)
  • 8:15pm - 8:45pm - Celestial Celebrities on the Big Screen (Ranger presentation with a smart telescope projected on a screen)
  • 9:00pm - 9:30pm - Arabian Constellations and Star Tour with Danielle Adams (FDSC)

Notes for safety and planning

  • The Lava Flow Trail parking lot is 1.5 miles away from the Sunset Crater Volcano Visitor Center
  • The parking lot will be fully open.
  • Orange and red lights will be set up along sidewalks directing visitors to the amphitheater and bathrooms
  • If bringing a light source, please use red lights to help preserve everyone's night vision
