Cultural Connections in the Park: Jennifer Pictou, Mi’kmaq

The Cultural Connections in the Park series occurs on select Wednesdays from June through September.

Learn about the delicate art of Mi’kmaq porcupine quill embroidery. In this demonstration, you will hear about the different kinds of stitching and the reason behind the traditional and historic use of porcupine quills to decorate boxes, chairs, placemats, and clothing. Join in the interactive Q&A session with Jennifer and engage your sense of wonder with the provided samples of Mi’kmaq artistry to touch.

This program will take place outside near the Sieur de Monts Nature Center. All Cultural Connections programs are sponsored by Dawnland, LLC, are offered in partnership between Acadia National Park and the Abbe Museum, and are free and open to the public.
