End of the Season Cannon Firing Demonstrations

In honor of the traditional last weekend of the summer season, Shiloh National Military Park will present its final Civil War cannon firing demonstrations of 2026 on Saturday, September 5. The Shiloh Cannon Crew will fire a historic 6-pounder Field Gun during the demonstrations.

Each 20-minute program will explore the organization of Civil War artillery, the duties of the cannoneers, the types of ammunition they fired, and the procedures used to safely load and fire the gun. Demonstrations will be held across the street from the park's visitor center at the following times:

• 10:00 a.m.
• 11:30 a.m.
• 1:30 p.m.
• 3:00 p.m.

All programs are free and open to the public. End the summer with a BOOM!
